There Is Hope for the Lost
Matthew 16:13-20
We will never understand Jesus if we do not understand His heart.
We will never understand what the church is or what it means to be a Christian if we do not understand Jesus’ heart.
3 Understandings About Jesus

Key Concept: Jesus’ heart is broken for lost people.
Key Verse: Luke 19:41-42 — As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes.”
Community Group Application: We begin to understand Jesus’ heart when we gather in church on the Lord’s Day and in our community groups during the week.

Key Verse: Ephesians 2:20-22 — [God’s people are] built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
Community Group Application: The Church of Jesus meets weekly in a building as a large group and weekly in smaller community groups in a house, café, or Zoom.
