Daniel Prayer Challenge

As we count down to the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, let us join with Christians all over the world in a special time of prayer and heart searching.

Begins: March 29

Ends: Good Friday, April 18 at the Good Friday Service 7:30 pm at Crossroads

Guidelines:

  • Set aside a specific time for your prayer. It is best to have the same time each day. Pick a time when you will not be interrupted. Pick a location where you can be alone with God without interruptions.

  • Set aside a minimum of 15 minutes. Be flexible with the length of time and follow where God is leading you in prayer. 

  • Optional: Fast each Friday (or one day per week.) For example: Eat dinner Thursday evening. Do not eat again until Friday evening.

  • Optional: Daniel Fast Guidelines based on Daniel 10:2

    1. Open with a prayer thanking God for this time of prayer and asking Him to guide you.

    2. Read the scripture for the day and pause to think about it.

    3. Read the scripture again.

    4. Pray starting with the daily prayer focus and pray as God leads you.

    5. Close by reading the scripture again and thinking about it and thanking God for the time of prayer.

  • Day 1: Saturday, March 29

    Scripture: James 5:13-18

    Prayer Focus: Asking God to examine your heart and change your heart. Ask God to make you a person of prayer. Dedicate these 21 days to this prayer journey.

    Day 2: Sunday, March 30

    Scripture: Luke 11:1-4

    Prayer Focus: Ask Jesus to teach you how to pray.

    Day 3: Monday, March 31

    Scripture: Colossians 4:2.

    Prayer Focus: Ask God to help you set aside a daily time and place for prayer. Commit to God to place prayer at the center of your life. Pray for God to show you a prayer partner who can pray for you. Ask God to forgive you of being prayerless in the past. 

    Day 4: Tuesday, April 1

    Scripture: Psalm 23

    Prayer Focus: Use Psalm 23 as your own prayer to God and make it personal for any situation you are going through in your life. 

    Day 5: Wednesday, April 2

    Scripture: Genesis 18:20-33

    Prayer Focus: Pray for the salvation of people you know who are not saved. Pray for them by name. Ask God to save them.

    Day 6: Thursday, April 3

    Scripture: Jeremiah 29:10-14

    Prayer Focus: Pray for your future and the future of your family.

    Day 7: Friday, April 4

    Scripture: 2 Chronicles 7:13-15

    Prayer Focus: Pray specifically for the United States (or country you live in) and name the problems and issues you see and pray for God to bring healing and change and pray that God would heal your land. 

  • Day 8: Saturday, April 5

    Scripture: Daniel 9:1-3

    Prayer Focus: As you pray, focus on God’s unchangeable character. Thank God that He is a loving Father, and a faithful Father. Thank Him that He is full of mercy, compassion and love for all He has made. Thank Him for being a guide, a teacher and a healer. Thank God that He will never leave you or give up on you.

    Day 9: Sunday, April 6

    Scripture: Matthew 6:5-6

    Prayer Focus: Pray that God would help you develop a regular prayer time every day and a quiet place to be with Him that will continue after the 21 days are finished.. 

    Day 10: Monday, April 7

    Scripture: 1 Samuel 1:9-18

    Prayer Focus: Pour out your heart to God about the deep things in your heart that trouble you that maybe no one else is aware of.

    Day 11: Tuesday, April 8

    Scripture: Luke 18:9-14

    Prayer Focus: Examine your heart and ask God to show you any areas of pride in your heart. Ask Jesus to make you a humble person.

    Day 12: Wednesday, April 9

    Scripture: Daniel 1:1-16

    Prayer Focus: Ask God to examine your heart and show you anything that you need to change in your life. Ask God to help you change it.

    Day 13: Thursday, April 10

    Scripture: Daniel 2:20-23

    Prayer Focus: Spend your prayer time thanking God for who He is and what He has been doing in your life.

    Day 14: Friday, April 11

    Scripture: Daniel 9:4-20

    Prayer Focus: Pray and thank God for His character. Use the scripture for today as a model for your prayer. Thank God for His faithfulness in your life; Thank Him for His righteousness; Thank Him for His goodness; Thank Him for His greatness. 

  • Day 15: Saturday, April 12

    Scripture: Hosea 10:12

    Prayer Focus: Review the list below and ask God to examine your heart. Confess and ask for forgiveness for any sin God shows you.

    • Being ungrateful for what you have

    • Losing love for God 

    • Neglect of Bible reading

    • Unbelief. Refusing to believe or to expect that God will answer my prayers.

    • Neglect of prayer

    • Lack of concern for the souls and salvation of others. Standing by and watching friends, neighbors, coworkers and even family members on their way to Hell and not praying for them or warning them.

    Day 16: Sunday, April 13

    Scripture: Psalm 51

    Prayer Focus: Review the list below and ask God to examine your heart. Confess and ask for forgiveness for any sin God shows you.

    • Love of material things and the world

    • Pride. Vanity about your appearance.

    • Envy and jealousy of others. Do you struggle with hearing others praised?

    • A critical spirit

    • Slander and gossip

    • Lying. Misleading others to impress them. Telling half truths.

    Day 17: Monday, April 14

    Scripture: Psalm 32

    Prayer Focus: Review the list below and ask God to examine your heart. Confess and ask for forgiveness for any sin God shows you.

    • Cheating

    • Hypocrisy - pretending to be something you are not.

    • Wasting your time and resources on things that have no eternal value

    • Temper. Losing patience with a child, coworker friend, spouse

    • Bad temper. Losing control of your emotions, thoughts, and words. Beginning verbally abusive.

    Day 18: Tuesday, April 15

    Scripture: Matthew 6:14

    Prayer Focus: Forgiving others. Make an inventory of your past and present relationships including family members. Is there anyone you have not forgiven? Ask God to help you to forgive them and pray for them to be blessed by God.


    Day 19: Wednesday, April 16

    Scripture: 2 Chronicles 7:11-16

    Prayer Focus: Pray for Jesus to heal our land. Pray for revival and that people would turn to Jesus and turn away from materialism and godless living and seek God. 

    Day 20: Thursday, April 17

    Scripture: Matthew 16:13-20

    Prayer Focus: pray that Jesus would build His church at Crossroads. Pray for the different ministries of the church (children; worship; media and sound; preaching; welcome; administrative). Pray that God would provide workers for each ministry.

    Day 21: Friday, April 18 - Good Friday service at 7:30pm

    Scripture: Matthew 21:12-17

    Prayer Focus: Pray that Jesus’ house, Crossroads church, would become a house of prayer. That people would come from all nations to seek Jesus at Crossroads church.
