The Encounter Chapter
Key Concept: The only way people you interact with everyday can know about Jesus is if someone (YOU) tells them.
Key Verse: John 12:21 - They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request. “Sir,” they said, “we would like to see Jesus.”
Community Group Application: Our story changes when we begin a relationship with Jesus.
The After Chapter
Key Concept: How sad it is to see people for what they are and not what they can be through Jesus.
Key Verse: Luke 19:10 - For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.
Community Group Application: Followers of Jesus let Him use them to write good stories for the people around them.
Background Info:
Jesus is always teaching His followers both by what He says and what He does. Here Jesus first shows His concern for a hated person. Jesus shows His power to change a person’s life. A tax collector was a Jewish person who worked with the enemy, Rome, collecting taxes from his own people. They also were corrupt and took more than they had to and became rich by stealing and extorting money from people. .
